INTERNATIONAL. Here’s your next chance of 2025 to win a great prize in our Strange Predictions* contest hosted by Strange Nature Gin of New Zealand.

This weekend we are turning to Formula 1 motor racing and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix (18-20 April).

We are asking you to put your FI punditry skills to work and select who will finish first, second and third.

And to make our contest as demanding as the 6.174-kilometre Jeddah Corniche Circuit, we are throwing in two additional laps of questions.

To assist your predictions, here is the current top ten ranking after the season’s first four races.

To enter our competition all you have to do is:

  • Predict the first, second and third placegetters in that order. You score 5 points for precisely picking any driver’s finishing place and two points for correctly selecting a podium finisher but not in the correct position.

So, if for example Max Verstappen wins, Lando Norris is second and Charles Leclerc third and you pick Norris to win, Verstappen to come second and Leclerc third you would collect 9 points (2 each for Norris and Verstappen, 5 for Leclerc).

To make it a little trickier, you must submit your entry before final qualifying (19 April 20.00 Saudi time)

Additional questions:

  • In a suitably strange New Zealand prediction, who will finish higher out of Kiwi driver Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls) or Japanese ace Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull)? = 2 points
  • Tell us which beautiful winemaking region of New Zealand Strange Nature comes from = 1 point

As with all our Strange Predictions competitions, the winner will receive a bottle of the outstanding Strange Nature Gin, whose spirit base is drawn from Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Strange indeed.

As reported, Strange Nature was recently named one of the ten 2024 Gins of the Year at the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition.

Rules:

    • Only entries from bona-fide members of the travel retail and aviation community will be accepted.
    • Judge’s decision is final.
    • The overall winner will be the entrant who has scored the highest number of points from the various questions.

Strange Predictions

Strange Nature, the quirky super-premium New Zealand gin from Marlborough, which has gained impressive traction in travel retail and selected local markets since its launch in October 2021, is partnering with The Moodie Davitt Report in a pioneering readers’ competition called Strange Predictions.

The year-round programme features a series of predictive contests designed to test readers’ punditry skills across a myriad of events, ranging from sporting contests to political elections and other intriguing – and sometimes strange – events.

Strange Nature General Manager – Owner Rhys Julian said: “At Strange Nature we like to embrace the strange.  We consider our gin to be stranger than most, considering its grape origins, one botanical as well as sustainability and traceability credentials.

“Therefore, in fitting with the brand we thought partnering with The Moodie Davitt Report’s Strange Predictions was a perfect fit. A fun competition for everyone, slightly left of centre, is very much our vibe.”
