Edwards previously worked with incoming Gers sporting director Kevin Thelwell during their time together at Wolves. Barry Ferguson is currently in interim charge of the Scottish giants following Clement’s axing in February. His side will end the season in second place for the fourth consecutive campaign. Rangers last won the title during Gerrard’s final full season at the helm. The former England midfielder guided the club to first place without a single defeat back in 2021. He later left Ibrox after three years in charge to join Aston Villa, having won 124 of his 192 matches as manager. The current squad just isn’t strong enough.” As for Russell Martin, the former Southampton boss clinched promotion to the Premier League last season. However, he was dismissed by the Saints in December after a poor start to their top-flight return. Martin has since remained out of work, with his previous managerial spells including MK Dons and Swansea. The Rangers job would be a first senior managerial role for Mason, though. He has spent his entire coaching career with Spurs since retiring in 2018. After initially working with the academy, Mason has spent the last three-and-a-half years with the first-team. During that time, the 33-year-old has had two separate spells as caretaker boss in North London.
