Steam Demo Now Available for Dark Bullet Hell Shooter ‘OMUT’ [Trailer]

Bullet Hell shooters don’t always lend themselves to horror. But that’s not stopping Madame Cyclone and publisher Megabit with their upcoming action title OMUT, which has just released a demo on Steam for players to check out ahead of its release.

OMUT is an described as “a hardcore fever dream,” the story is predictably as such: a swirling red vortex and a talking house, beckoning you into its eerie embrace at the heart of a dark, enigmatic forest. Both terrifying and somehow comforting, this place is teeming with unearthly beings and guttural whispers that dance upon the wind.

You embark on an unsettling quest to find a red-haired woman from your dreams, guided by a sarcastic skeletal companion, as you face meticulously designed, nightmarish bosses. Each encounter requires unique strategies, ensuring that every battle feels fresh and distinct. As you might expect from a shooter like this, the difficulty is not for the faint of heart.

As such, the demo offers prospective players a glimpse of that unforgiving brutality of OMUT, as well as a look at the surreal visuals. The demo includes the game’s first act, which holds seven bosses in its one hour of gameplay. Luckily, you’ve also got three character upgrades to earn and master.
