Skeen sets Sebring TA2 lap record en route to season opener pole

The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series 2025 season will kick off at Sebring with Mike Skeen leading the field to green in his No. 48 CUBE 3/Franklin Road/SLR-M1 Chevrolet Camaro. Skeen laid down a lap time of 2m04.196s, breaking the track record set by Connor Zilisch in 2024 (2m05.062s).

“It’s awesome to be back in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series. I love being here,” said Skeen. “These cars are a blast to drive. Big thanks to TeamSLR for having me here for the weekend. Hopefully, we can continue this. The qualifying session went great, the car was awesome. They gave me a speedy No. 48 to drive and I hope that we can keep it up here tomorrow. We had to do a couple more laps than I wanted to on the tires, but I think we’re still going to be a strong car to deal with tomorrow. Obviously, lots of competition here. Big thanks to Guthrie’s Garage, Franklin Road Apparel, CUBE 3, everybody that’s making this weekend work for us. I hope we can keep it going.”

Barry Boes (No. 27 Accio Data/SLR-M1 Chevrolet Camaro) was the fastest of the Pro/Am Challenge contenders with a time of 2m06.669s.

The race will be contested Saturday at 12:15 p.m. ET. It will be streamed live on Trans Am’s YouTube channel, @TheTransAmSeries, with coverage beginning at 11:45 a.m. ET, and broadcast live on SPEED SPORT 1, with coverage beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET. An encore presentation will air on SPEED SPORT 1 at 8:30 p.m. ET. For more information on where you can watch SPEED SPORT 1, click here.
