Shawn Levy's Star Wars Movie Finally Has a Title

Lucasfilm’s President Kathleen Kennedy and Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni took the stage at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan to drop a star-system-sized bombshell: a brand-new theatrical Star Wars movie is coming, and it’s called Star Wars: Starfighter. The most exciting news? It's actually shooting this year, and it's going to be released on May 28, 2027. That's not even that far away! This is a huge development. Directed by Shawn Levy and led by Ryan Gosling, Starfighter will chart an entirely original course through the galaxy, set approximately five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
