Salsa chandelier by Brand Van Egmond

Dezeen Showroom: Dutch lighting design studio Brand Van Egmond aimed to capture the poetry of motion in this chandelier, which is composed of intertwining lengths of metal.

While such a composition should suggest chaos, instead what emerges from the Salsa chandelier is a sense of harmony and rhythmic order, according to Brand Van Egmond.

Designer and Brand Van Egmond founder William Brand says that he created the chandelier by following his creative intuition, a process that he likens to a dance.

"When I create, emotion leads the way," said Brand. "It's like a line in Salsa, shifting, sometimes rising, sometimes falling."

"Amidst the chaos, where do beauty and surprise meet? That's the point I work towards, where the composition of lines comes together to form something unexpected and captivating," he continued.

The Salsa chandelier is made of metal and mouth-blown borosilicate glass. It is available in a wide choice of finishes and is customisable in dimension.
