Ryan Giggs has named the one Manchester United player it would be ‘unthinkable’ to sell in the transfer window at the end of the season.

The Red Devils look set for a busy summer under head coach Ruben Amorim after a disastrous 2024-25 campaign in the Premier League.

It is believed that United are plotting an epic clear-out and want to axe at least 10 players with Amorim wanting significant changes to his options.

Jonny Evans, Tom Heaton, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof are all out of contract this summer and it’s thought they won’t be offered new deals.

United also reportedly want to sell Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Casemiro as part of a major squad overhaul.

Meanwhile, Al Hilal are thought to be weighing up a huge offer to lure United captain Bruno Fernandes to Saudi Arabia at the end of the season.

But Amorim says Fernandes will not leave this summer and Giggs has now urged his ex-club to turn down any bids for the Portuguese midfielder.

‘No player is ever bigger than the club but right now he is the special player, he is the captain,’ Giggs said on the Webby & O’Neill YouTube channel.

‘He is thew one producing special moments in games and he looks like a class above at the moment.

‘It would be unthinkable at this moment to lose him because with him and the rest of the squad, it is night and day in terms of what he produces consistently since he has been at the club.

‘And he is always fit, always wants the ball, he has got weaknesses but his strengths outweigh all his weaknesses and he is a brilliant player.’

Fernandes has been in fine form for United this season, conjuring up 38 goal involvements (19 goals and 19 assists) across 54 matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Giggs has also shared his thoughts on the future of United winger Alejandro Garnacho, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

‘It splits a lot of people,’ Giggs added. ‘I like Garnacho because he makes things happen.

‘Of course, his end product has got to improve, he’s got to score more goals and he has got to have more assists.

‘But in that position, and the way he plays, there are going to be dips. You look at the flair players, all brilliant players but all have dips in their careers because they try things and when it’s not coming off, it doesn’t look great.

‘The one thing I would say is it probably doesn’t suit him, this system. But he is another who is always fit.

‘He makes things happen but like any young player he has to improve.’
