Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners' Deal With Warner Bros. Is a Lovely "F**k You" To the Studio System, but It Isn't Going To "End It" Just Yet
Ryan Coogler struck an impressive deal with Warner Bros. for Sinners, and Hollywood executives are losing their minds.

For the first time in, actually, not that long, Hollywood is scared out of its mind. And, again, it is Warner Bros. that has taken the role of the big bad wolf hiding behind a tree. But while, three years ago, it was the constant cost-cutting and series of layoffs at the company that had recently merged with Discovery that had everyone trembling under their covers, this time it's an unusual deal between the studio and one of its talents that is doing the spooking. If 2022 Warner Bros. was showing blatant disregard for actors, filmmakers, and other workers on their payroll by simply burying their movies before they were even released, the studio is now trying to patch things up by giving the director of one of its movies, Ryan Coogler's Sinners, exactly what he wants. Alas, that doesn't mean the folks up in LA are having a good time...
