Road America will become a six-hour IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup round in 2026, swapping places with Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as the only major change for next year’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule.

Released on Thursday at Sebring International Raceway, all 11 existing events return to IMSA’s premier sports car racing series, which will again kick off with the annual Rolex 24 at Daytona in late January.

It will be followed by the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in mid-March before a trip to the streets of Long Beach, which will again be for the GTP and GTD classes only.

A three-class race for GTP, GTD Pro and GTD machinery at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca will be staged one week earlier next year in early May, followed by a GTP and GTD Pro-only sprint race to the streets of Detroit in late May.

Watkins Glen International will host the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, which moves back to its traditional late June slot, followed by the LMP2 headliner at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, along with GTD Pro and GTD, for the third straight year in mid-July.

The six-hour Road America race will take place on July 30-Aug. 2 with all four classes in action, marking the first long-distance IMSA race at Road America in recent history.

It will be followed by the GT-only round at Virginia International Raceway on Aug. 20-23, with all four classes returning to The Brickyard for a two-hour and 40-minute contest on Sept. 18-20, prior to the season and Endurance Cup-ending Motul Petit Le Mans on Sept. 30-Oct. 3, which is also earlier on the schedule.

As was the case last year, IMSA becomes the first major motorsports championship to reveal its 2026 schedule.

“The collaboration between IMSA and our event and promoter partners has allowed us to reveal our 2026 calendar at such an early date for a second consecutive season,” said IMSA President John Doonan.

“This collective spirit will help our paddock and fans in preparation for next season, even as we have the majority of the 2025 season still to run.”
