Reports: Texans make Derek Stingley highest-paid DB

Derek Stingley has reset the contract market for defensive backs.

The All-Pro cornerback and the Houston Texans have agreed to a three-year, $90-million contract extension, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday.

The news comes less than a week after Jayce Horn and the Carolina Panthers agreed to a four-year, $100-million deal. Stingley’s $30 million per season salary is the highest for a defensive back in the NFL.

Stingley, 24, had a breakout campaign in 2024 in his third NFL season. He started all 17 games for the Texans, caught five interceptions for 48 yards and defended 18 passes.
