Report: Raptors convert A.J. Lawson’s contract

A.J. Lawson has earned himself a standard NBA contract.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania on Friday, the Toronto Raptors are converting the guard’s two-way deal into a two-year standard contract.

The news came via Todd Ramasar and Mike Simonetta of Life Sports Agency.

Lawson, a Toronto native, has averaged 8.8 points and 3.2 rebounds while playing an average of 18 minutes in 24 games, including two starts.

He recorded a career-high 32 points and 12 rebounds off the bench in a game against the Washington Wizards back on March 10.

The 24-year-old originally signed his two-way contract with the Raptors in December.

He previously appeared in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves (one game in 2022–23) and the Dallas Mavericks (56 games across 2022–23 and 2023–24).

The Raptors face Lawson’s former team, the Mavericks, Friday night.
