Report: McDavid, Draisaitl to have imaging done on injuries

Edmonton Oilers fans might soon know what lies ahead for their team’s two biggest stars — and their season could ride on the answers.
The Oilers are scheduled to have imaging done on Friday for superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to judge the severity of their injuries and perhaps get answers on when they can return to play, Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli reported Friday.
The injury to McDavid appeared to occur during his final shift of the second period in Thursday night’s game against the Jets.
As the star forward chased a puck in the Winnipeg zone, Jets defender Josh Morrissey made contact with McDavid, appearing to clip him with his stick in the midsection.
McDavid appeared to be in immediate discomfort. He sat on the bench for the short remainder of the second but did not come out for the final frame and was quickly ruled out.
After the game, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch told reporters he had no update on McDavid.

Draisaitl was listed as doubtful and eventually determined he could not play after suffering an undisclosed injury on Tuesday against Utah. Goaltender Stuart Skinner was also pulled from the loss to Jets late in the third period with an injury.
The loss of any of the three for any extended period of time would be a massive blow to the Oilers, who sit second in the Pacific Division with 84 points but are aiming to catch the Vegas Golden Knights (86 points) for first place.
McDavid, even in a relative down year, has posted otherworldly numbers with 89 points (26 goals, 63 assists) in 62 games. He scored the overtime winner for Canada to beat the U.S. in the 4 Nations Face-Off final.
Edmonton’s next game is Saturday at home against the Seattle Kraken, followed by three days off.
