Report: Grizzlies’ Brandon Clarke to miss rest of season

The Memphis Grizzlies have lost a key rotational piece.

Canadian forward Brandon Clarke will miss the remainder of the season with a high-grade PCL strain in his right knee, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Saturday.

Clarke went down with the injury in the first quarter during Memphis’ game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old Vancouver native has appeared in 64 games this season, averaging a career-low 8.3 points in nearly 19 minutes per game.

Clarke, a former first-round pick, has played in 304 games over his six-year career. He’s averaged 10.2 points a game, while shooting just over 60 per cent from the field.

His efficiency and defensive prowess will be missed by a Grizzlies team that sits in fifth place in the tight Western Conference playoff race.
