Sophomore guard Gradey Dick was the latest to take a knock, exiting the team’s road tilt against the Houston Rockets on Sunday after colliding with Amen Thompson.
Dick, 21, took a hard fall on the play in the closing seconds of the first half and headed straight to the locker room. He was later ruled out due to a neck contusion.
Per the broadcast, he did clear an initial concussion screening by the team.
The 2023 13th overall pick has played in 45 games for the Raptors this season, averaging 15.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 35 per cent from beyond the arc. He ranks fourth amongst second-year players in scoring and three-point attempts.
He exited Sunday’s contest after 14 minutes of play, going scoreless on 0-of-4 shooting from the field.
Dick now joins RJ Barrett, who’s been in concussion protocol since taking a spill in the Raptors’ win over the Los Angeles Clippers last week, and Jakob Poeltl, who’s battling a right hip pointer injury, on the sidelines. All the while, newly acquired Brandon Ingram remains out of the lineup with an ankle sprain that’s caused him to miss 28 consecutive games.
On the other side, Rockets All-Star Alperen Sengun also exited in the first half due to back spasms. He is doubtful to return.
