RACER's Saturday tune-in guide: IndyCar, IMSA, NASCAR, WEC

With the NTT IndyCar Series taking to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course for the Sonsio Grand Prix, the IMSA WeatherTech Series heading out for qualifying at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, NASCAR’s Cup Series qualifying at Kansas Speedway and the FIA World Endurance Championship warming up for Le Mans with the Total-Energies 6 Hours of Spa, there’s plenty to keep racing fans on the sofa instead of doing whatever it is they’re supposed to be doing around the house.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES

Patches of cloud and a very, very slight chance of rain await the IndyCar Series field at IMS on Saturday. For Chevrolet teams, the weekend is about breaking what has so far been a Honda lockout of victory lane this season, while everyone who doesn’t drive Alex Palou’s No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing car will be looking for a way to end the reigning champion’s hot streak.

NASCAR CUP SERIES

Last May’s Kansas race found its way into the record books when Kyle Larson beat Chris Buescher by 0.001s – the closest finish in Cup Series history. Larson heads into this weekend among the favorites, although he’s pointing to the Toyotas as the cars to beat.

IMSA WEATHERTECH SPORTSCAR SERIES

After sitting out the last round at Long Beach, the GTD PRO class rejoins GTP and GTD under what are expected to be cool and clear skies at Laguna Seca. Porsche Penske Motorsport’s No. 7 car comes into the weekend looking to make it four wins from four races, and as if it needed a further confidence boost, PPM won here last year as well (albeit with the No. 6 sister car). It’s a different story for the GT field, with neither class having yet produced a repeat winner this year.

FIA WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP

The third round of the series at picturesque Spa-Francorchamps. Ferrari dominated qualifying with its 499 Hypercars, Antonio Fuoco taking pole, but can they maintain that margin over a six-hour race on this demanding circuit?
