Puspakom has commenced the self-declaration initiative for the inspection of five items not related to safety for commercial vehicles, Bernama has reported. These five items are vehicle body lettering, speed signs, first aid kits, registration numbers and the condition of passenger seats for public service vehicles, said JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli.

This initiative is aimed at shortening inspection times and reducing failures due to non-critical issues, and vehicles which had previously failed inspections due to these five items may undergo re-inspections online from today, he said.

“This flexibility is only allowed for vehicles that fail inspection for these five items, without affecting any other inspection criteria, and applies solely to inspection procedures at Puspakom. However, these items remain subject to enforcement regulations under JPJ and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). The authorities will take action if the vehicles lack any of these five items, including fines of up to RM300 per item,” the JPJ D-G said.

Vehicle owner can download the guidebook on the criteria of the Puspakom self-declaration and the specifications of the five items from the Puspakom website, Aedy Fadly said. These five items will be among the items to be inspected by the JPJ during the 2025 Hari Raya Aidilfitri special operation that will take place from March 24 to April 8, 2025 nationwide.

Meanwhile, Puspakom CEO Mahmood Razak Bahman said that an estimated 7,500 commercial vehicle owners are expected to complete self-declarations through the Puspakom website.
