Proton distributor for the eMas 7 EV, Pro-Net has rolled out the Flyme Auto S version 1.1.4 firmware update over-the-air earlier this week, paultan.org has learnt.
Some progress has been made, specifically with the radio frequency presets. Whereas previously owners faced the issue of radio frequencies being reset each time the vehicle is started up, channel memory is now retained, according to eMas 7 owner community groups.
In addition, the following are the updates rolled out, announced to eMas 7 owners by the Pro-Net team as sighted by paultan.org:
- Vehicle charging start/stop button on the infotainment screen
- “View Location During Sleep” switch
- Optimised ABS and reduced fluctuation of deceleration
- Improved cold-start logic – better pre-heating in cold temperatures for more stable voltage
A number of the issues identified with the battery-electric SUV have yet to be resolved, namely with previously reported issues, such as drive settings for the speed reminder and brake energy regeneration levels being reset, while English language translations within the interface remain unchanged.
For now there’s yet to be an update on the ice-cream truck jingle audio, which is meant to be an audible warning for pedestrians when the eMas 7 is being driven at low speeds, namely at any point below 30 km/h. If you’ve yet to hear it, this is the tune. Proton acknowledges the feedback regarding pedestrian warning audio, and its R&D team is actively working on and testing refinements to the feature, it said.
As for smartphone integration, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay remains some time away, as Pro-Net has previously said that integration for the two mobile operating systems will be in June or July at the earliest, leading with Apple CarPlay, then Android Auto. When these do arrive, both will be wireless, paultan.org understands.
Currently available in two variants, the Proton eMas 7 is sold as the Prime with a 49.52 kWh battery, and the Premium, which gets a 60.22 kWh battery. Both variants use the Geely Aegis short-blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The Prime gets 345 km of range while the Premium gets 410 km; both are according to the WLTP testing standard.
Charging time from 30 to 80% takes 20 minutes using DC fast charging at up to 100 kW (80 kW for the Prime), while a full charge using an 11 kW AC wallbox takes 4.9 hours for the Prime and 6.1 hours for the Premium. The eMas 7 is also the first Proton to get a suite of driver assistance features, including Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities.
