Zotefoams — a world leader in supercritical foams — will be introducing Ecozote® PE/R LD24 FR, the latest addition to its Ecozote® Sustainability+ foams range, at this year’s AIX show on stand 5E36.
Zotefoams innovative material is a closed cell, crosslinked low-density polyethylene (LDPE) foam offering superior performance with 30% post- (PE/R) consumer waste. It is suitable for seating applications and provides a sustainable alternative to traditional materials without compromising on performance. Ecozote PE/R LD is also lightweight and flame-retardant, offering enhanced safety and durability while supporting the industry’s move towards more sustainable materials in aircraft interiors.
Zotefoams Commercial Director Ollie Ridd, said: “We are committed to developing sustainable lightweight supercritical fluid foams solutions independently and in partnership with our existing aerospace customers. With the transition towards a lower-carbon economy remaining central to the aviation agenda, our high-performance materials contribute towards sustainability goals for aircraft interiors.
“We are solutions-driven and welcome new and existing customers to work with us to develop materials and products that meet their aviation needs across the aerospace supply chain.”
Zotefoams will also be showcasing its industry renowned ZOTEK® F high-performance foams and AZOTE® ranges on its stand. ZOTEK F is a lightweight alternative to traditional, solid components and is used for a wide range of applications including window seals, rigid armrests and seats. Densities range from 30 to 150kg/m3. The materials offer impressive weight savings of up to 70%, which significantly improves the carbon footprint of aircrafts by reducing fuel burn.
ZOTEK F is available in a range of grades and is highly customisable for applications both within the cabin and in non-visible zones. For example, in environmental control system (ECS) applications, a ventilation hose made from ZOTEK F will weigh just a third of a comparable silicone hose.
Other applications include seat pods, covered decorative and non-decorative panels, consoles, tray tables, footwells, stowage lockers and carpet underlay.
The AZOTE® range of lightweight, crosslinked polyolefin block foams include the lightest OEM-approved FR-grade aviation foams. The materials are used widely in aircraft seating, insulation seals, ducts and packaging.
Zotefoams chemical-free manufacturing process, ensure foams are notably pure, consistent and durable. This process ensures compatibility with a wide range of forming methods that allows the production of a variety of complex shapes.
