Preferred Hotels promo: Earn 20k bonus points on 2+ night California stays; stack with other promos

“Preferred Hotels is like Best Western” isn’t a sentence I ever expected to type, but seems to be true to some extent. That’s because both programs appear to have a penchant for stackable promotions that let you earn bonus points or other rewards in two or more different ways.

Preferred Hotels has a new promotion that’s offering 20,000 bonus I Prefer points when booking 2+ night stays at eligible properties in California through April 30, 2025. That stacks with a double points offer and possibly another offer awarding 2,500 bonus points when staying ay new properties.

Key Terms

• Members who register prior to March 31, 2025 and stay between February 3, 2025 and April 30, 2025, will receive double base points (10 bonus points plus 10 base points per eligible $USD spent on Rooms).
• In addition to double base points, registered members will also receive twenty thousand (20,000) bonus points on stays of two (2) nights or more at select California hotels including: Fess Parker Wine Country Inn, Surf & Sand Resort Laguna Beach, Huntley Santa Monica Beach, Pendry West Hollywood, L’Ermitage Beverly Hills, Shutters on the Beach, Hotel Casa del Mar, The Hollywood Roosevelt, Alsace Hotel, Hotel Californian, The Ranch at Laguna Beach, The Mosaic Hotel Beverly Hills, Pendry Newport Beach, Ojai Valley Inn, Balboa Bay Resort, Montage Laguna Beach, Alisal Ranch, La Valencia, Pendry San Diego, and Rancho Bernardo.
• Double points are calculated on base points only and will not be added to the regular bonus points earned as a Gold (20%) or Titanium (50%) member.
• Bonus points earned will not count towards tier upgrade qualification.
• This offer may not be combined with other bonus point promotions, except for the twenty-thousand-point bonus at select California hotels as mentioned above.
• Twenty-thousand-point bonus will not be awarded for back-to-back stays at the same hotel, for example, where departure date of one reservation is the same as arrival date for the next reservation.

Quick Thoughts

The landing page for this promotion and the terms above refer to two different promotions – one awarding double points on stays and one awarding 20,000 bonus points at California hotels for stays of 2+ nights. We’d already covered the double points promo here, but since publishing that Preferred Hotels has added this additional offer to earn bonus points at eligible hotels in California.

Be aware that you have to register for the promotion, but that might not be immediately obvious if visiting the landing page on desktop. It might vary depending on your screen resolution, but this is what the page looks like in Chrome on my laptop:

As you can see, it says to click below to register, but there’s nothing to click. I checked in Firefox and Edge too, but no luck. I eventually realized that zooming out on my browser changed the screen display enough to show the registration elements.

The terms of the offer confirm the double points and 20k bonus points promos do stack. However, be aware that the 20k bonus points don’t get doubled – only your base earnings do.

If you’re interested in a stay at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills, there might be a third stackable promo. Preferred Hotels is currently offering 2,500 bonus points when staying at their new properties. L’Ermitage Beverly Hills is the only one of those that’s located in California, so you should earn those bonus points too.

I’m not 100% certain that those bonus points will be awarded though. The terms listed earlier explicitly state that the double points promo doesn’t stack with anything else other than this 20k bonus points offer. However, I suspect that the I Prefer program isn’t counting the 2,500 new property offer as something that wouldn’t stack, so I imagine you would earn from all three offers if staying at that one property.
