PONOS Racing has announced it has parted ways with factory Ferrari driver Lilou Wadoux ahead of this weekend’s SUPER GT season opener at Okayama.

The team revealed via a short statement on Tuesday that Wadoux will not participate in the Japanese series for a second year as planned following a request from the French driver to be released from her contract.

Wadoux drove for the team alongside teammate Kei Cozzolino in last month’s Fuji official test, and was due to prioritize SUPER GT over her other commitments for Ferrari this season in the European Le Mans Series and IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

A Ferrari spokesperson has been approached for comment.

Wadoux’s place in the No. 45 PONOS Ferrari 296 GT3 alongside Cozzolino will be taken by Takuro Shinohara, who has been handed a late reprieve after being dropped by the LEON Racing Mercedes-AMG squad over the winter.

Shinohara finished second in last year’s GT300 standings together with Naoya Gamou, but was facing a year on the sidelines following LEON’s surprise decision to rehire its former driver Togo Suganami for the 2025 campaign.
