Phoebe Bridgers collaborator Harrison Whitford & Eli Hirsch are Attention Bird Utopia, share debut single

Guitarist and songwriter Harrison Whitford (who has collaborated with Phoebe Bridgers, The National’s Matt Berninger, and Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst), and producer and songwriter Eli Hirsch (of Courtship, who has worked with Suki Waterhouse, Cautious Clay, and Say Lou Lou) have a new collaborative project, Attention Bird Utopia. Their debut album as a duo, Best of Kings, is due out on June 6 via their own here, here recordings.

The lead single and first track is “Infinity Inside a Shopping Cart,” an appealingly mellow and introspective indie rock track. “This song is a collage,” Harrison says. “It’s about trying to make sense of things that don’t make sense, and the non-linear nature of lived experience in spite of the construct of linear time. It’s also about whatever you want it to be. Eli and I set up a few mics, I recorded the piano and then he jumped on the drums. From there, we did everything else. The guitar solo has vertigo. Enjoy.”
