Footage has emerged of Phil Foden dismissing vulgar chants aimed at the Manchester City star and his mother from Manchester United fans.

Sunday’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford was one to forget as both sides laboured to a goalless draw.

Foden was one of many players to struggle and was hauled off by Guardiola after just 58 minutes, getting replaced by Jeremy Doku.

It was another difficult match for the England international who was subjected to vile taunts from the Old Trafford faithful before being jeered off the pitch.

A loud portion of United supporters could be heard singing ‘Phil Foden, your mum is a s***!’ at the 24-year-old who has played for City his entire career.

In a video shared on TikTok, Foden is seen ironically clapping a section of the home supporters as the chant comes down from the stands, giving them a thumbs up before appearing to urge them to continue.

Asked about the chants in his post-match press conference, a furious Pep Guardiola said: ‘Lack of class, but is not United it is the people.

‘We are so exposed… managers, owners, football players especially. I do not understand the mind of the people involving the mum of Phil.

‘Lack of integrity, class and they should be ashamed. But it is what it is, it happens everywhere not just in UK.’

Aside from a brief resurgence in January, when he scored six goals in four games, Foden has looked a shadow of himself this campaign, nothing like the star who won Premier League Player of the Season in 2023/24.

Guardiola defended his whole team after the drab derby draw, telling BBC Sport: ‘I think they played really good. Rico [Lewis] was really good. Satisfied with all of them.

‘We put players with the sense of goal, with Omar [Marmoush] and Phil. Gundo [Ilkay Gundogan] and Kev [De Bruyne] with good crosses and passes in to them.

‘We have lived this many years. We were really good in our intensity. In that terms we are satisfied for the way we have done it.’
