The Perodua Myvi is 20 years old this year, with the current generation of the bestselling B-segment hatchback having received its facelift in late-2021 as a 2022-year model.

In homage to the Malaysian icon, graphics rendering maestro Theophilus Chin has offered an alternative take on the first-generation model, and notes that this is not his view on what an upcoming, fourth-generation Myvi would look like, compared to his forward-looking approach to renditions of vehicles.

Similarities between the Myvi homage and the current model are apparent with its vertically oriented LED daytime running lights, though that isn’t exclusive to the highly popular hatchback; the front fascia of the rendition will be recognisable from that of the Volkswagen ID.Every1 concept.

Instead of having its headlamps visually enclosed in the black full-width band, these are taller and more like the units from the first-generation Myvi, hence the homage.

In its side profile, the rendition appears to bring the machined two-tone alloys from the ID.Every1 concept to the Myvi homage, though the former’s floating roof courtesy of blacked-out A-pillars are returned to body colour here. In place of the Volkswagen concept’s flush-mounted pop-out door handles are conventional items, and the C-pillars have been reverted to those of the early Myvi, too.

The rear end also receives an apparent tip of the hat to the first-generation Myvi in its tail lamps, and here Theo has swapped out the lighting units and tailgate of the ID.Every1 – as well as its rear bumper – for an assembly much more like that of the first-generation Myvi.

As indicated earlier, this is a rendition made in homage to the first-generation Perodua Myvi, and isn’t meant to be a forward-looking take on what the next Myvi would look like; Theo has done that in a separate illustration. As for this one, what do you think of his take on the OG Myvi with some Germanic cues?
