Brad Marchand is inching closer to making his Florida Panthers debut.

The team is targeting Friday’s matchup against Utah as the first game for the 36-year-old to don the red and gold, head coach Paul Maurice said Wednesday, according to the team’s senior digital content manager Jameson Olive.

Maurice added that Marchand will fully participate in practice Thursday before making a decision.

Marchand, who has been out since March 4 with an upper-body injury, was acquired by Florida in the dying minutes of the NHL trade deadline for a conditional 2027 second-round pick. In 61 games this season, the winger has 21 goals and 47 points.

The four-time all-star and Stanley Cup champion skated alongside Tomas Nosek and Mackie Samoskevich on the Panthers’ second line Wednesday.

Florida is tied with the Toronto Maple Leafs for first in the Atlantic Division with 89 points.
