Palou rolls on in Barber warmup

The half-hour warmup session ahead of this afternoon’s Children’s of Alabama Grand Prix at Barber Motorsports Park looked a lot like yesterday’s qualifying, with Alex Palou maintaining his pole-winning form to lead the way with a lap of 1m07.9015s in his No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda.

Pato O’Ward, who lines up eighth for Sunday’s race, was second fastest in his Arrow McLaren No. 5 Chevy, while Colton Herta repeated his third-fastest placing from qualifying in his No. 26 Andretti Global Honda. Scott Dixon rebounded from the frustrating qualifying session that left him starting 26th in the race to run fourth in the No. 9 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, while defending race winner Scott McLaughlin, who starts alongside Palou on the front row, rounded out the top five in the No. 3 Team Penske Chevy.

After mixed weather on Friday and Saturday, the session ran under mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-60s, and these conditions are expected to continue through the day.
