Nottingham Forest head into Sunday’s East Midlands derby desperate to get back to winning ways and into the top five after dropping out of the Champions League positions in recent weeks after a big drop off in form.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were 10 points clear of sixth placed Newcastle following their 1-0 win over Manchester United at the start of last month, but just four points from their last five games, as well as an FA Cup semi final defeat, has left Nottingham Forest outside of the top five.

Forest head into the weekend one place and two points behind fifth placed Chelsea, but do sit only three points behind Newcastle in third, so a lot could change this weekend, particularly with a big win over an already relegated Leicester side.

The Nottinghamshire side’s home form had been a large reason for their success for the vast majority of the campaign, but head into this weekend’s penultimate home game of the season having lost each of their last two matches at the City Ground, both against teams in the bottom half of the table.

Leicester make the short trip to the City Ground on Sunday having already had their relegation secured after just one season back in the Premier League, but will determined to not go down without a fight against their East Midlands rivals.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side’s run of 11 defeats in 12 games came to an end last weekend with a 2-0 victory over fellow relegated side Southampton, marking the club’s first win since January.

The Foxes have lost 11 of their last 13 matches on the road though, including six of their last seven and are winless in five of their last six matches against Sunday’s opponents.

Both sides are out of form across the last handful of weeks but with so much riding on the game for Nottingham Forest, who can probably wave goodbye to their Champions League hopes should they drop more points on Sunday, they should be able to get the job done and secure all three points – I’m predicting a 2-0 home win.
