In Education Week’s article, As Prices Go Up and Student Needs Rise, Teachers Are Filling in the Gaps, survey results are reported showing that teachers are spending more and more of their own money to support students.
If and when Trump’s education cuts – and his proposed Medicaid and SNAP reductions – come to pass, it’s a safe bet many teachers will be spending even more.
This might be a good time for some major foundations to put serious money behind an experiment I’ve previously proposed – actually giving money directly to teachers instead of funding their policy boondoggles.
