The triumph delivered the club’s first piece of such silverware since 1955. As a member of the matchday squad, Neave received a winner’s during the trophy presentation. The academy graduate joined Newcastle from Wallsend Boys Club, the same youth team which produced Alan Shearer. Since making the jump to the Under-18s, Neave has scored 21 goals and provided seven assists in 37 appearances. He has also already scored three times for the Under-21s after featuring in both the EFL Trophy and Premier League 2. Neave, who does not turn 18 until May, was capped twice by England at Under-18 level last year. His international caps came after signing his first professional contract with the Toon Army in the summer. After penning his deal, the teenager told the club website: “I’m really happy about signing my first professional contract with the club. “Ever since I was young, it’s been my dream to play for Newcastle United so to sign a professional deal here is surreal.” GettyNeave has 21 goals in 37 matches for Newcastle’s under-18 side[/caption] GettyThe 17-year-old signed his first professional contract last summer[/caption] Neave has now made three appearances in the matchday squad under Howe as he pushes for a senior debut. He was first named on the bench against Birmingham in the FA Cup in February. Howe included the young striker again for his side’s away win over West Ham last week ahead of the Carabao Cup final. Neave was not the only notable medallist from Sunday’s triumph, though. Martin Dubravka picked up a medal without appearing in the final for the second time in two years. The goalkeeper previously earned a winner’s medal for Manchester United in 2023 after they beat Newcastle at Wembley. Dubravka had featured twice for the Red Devils earlier in the tournament before being recalled from his loan spell at Old Trafford. Those appearances meant he was cup-tied for the 2-0 loss, with Loris Karius making his debut in the match instead.
