Netflix has handed out renewals for eight series today, including two of its most high profile dramas – “The Diplomat” and “Bridgerton”.
A fourth season has been ordered for the Keri Russell-led “The Diplomat”. That series returns for a third season this Fall and reunites former “The West Wing” co-stars Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford in supporting/guest roles.
Such an early renewal suggests Netflix is already prepping for a fourth run to air in late 2026/early 2027.
Even though Shonda Rhimes’ romance period drama “Bridgerton” isn’t set to air its fourth season until 2026, the streamer has given the go ahead for a fifth and sixth season.
The fourth season centers around Luke Thompson’s Benedict Bridgerton and Yerin Ha’s Sophie Baek, which means the fifth will likely deal with the romances of Eloise and Francesca Bridgerton respectively.
Also scoring a renewal is the just released comedy-drama “The Four Seasons” starring Tina Fey, Colman Domingo, Steve Carell, Will Forte, Marco Calvani, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Erika Henningsen.
Two book adaptations are also returning including “Forever” and “My Life with the Walter Boys” which will get second and third seasons respectively. Also back are award-winning docuseries “Love on the Spectrum” which is getting a fourth season, and competition series “Million Dollar Secret” which is getting a second season.
