Mumbai International Airport enhances parking experience with cashless digital payment system

INDIA. Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has rolled out a cashless digital payment system for more convenient access to its Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP).
The innovative solution was designed to streamline payments, reduce wait times and enhance the overall parking experience.
The cashless system supports the Government of India’s Digital India initiative, enabling parking payments through mobile wallets, debit/credit cards, UPI or other digital options.
All customer lanes at the airport’s MLCP feature FASTag counters, enabling faster entry and exit while eliminating the need for manual receipts or cash/card transactions.
The airport company reported that 66% of MLCP users prefer FASTag as their primary payment method, while 10-15% use UPI, credit or debit cards, and 5% opt for pre-booked parking slots.
With 85% of passengers adopting cashless payment methods, CSMIA is working to phase out cash transactions by cooperating with stakeholders and promoting automated digital payment methods. Passengers who choose to pay in cash are encouraged to use the designated central payment stations.
A CSMIA spokesperson said: “Mumbai Airport continues to set new benchmarks in smart airport solutions, enhancing efficiency, transparency and sustainability through digital innovation.
“CSMIA’s shift to a digital payment system at the MLCP reflects its commitment to offering modern, efficient parking experience.”
