Architecture content creator Mr Chuck has teamed up with Dezeen and Trimble to launch the SketchUp Design Sprint Challenge 2025.
Noris Obijiaku, a TikTok creator and architect-in-training based in London who goes by the name of Mr Chuck online, is known for his tours of iconic British housing estates.
The competition coincides with Sketchup's 25th anniversary
To launch the SketchUp Design Sprint Challenge, he has created an entry for the competition and documented it in a video, in order to demonstrate what prospective entrants will need to do.
The competition celebrates the software brand's 25th anniversary by tasking entrants to look 25 years ahead and imagine a space for the year 2050.
Reflecting the increasing constraints on urban space, entrants are challenged to create their design with a footprint of under 500 feet.
The competition requires that the design be created in just 60 minutes using SketchUp .
In response to the brief, which specifies that entries should be designed for positive social impact, Obijiaku created a design in SketchUp themed around wellbeing.
“My concept explores the idea of 2050 being a period where we move away from our conventional spaces and prioritise spaces for healing and growth, enhancing the occupier's experience and focusing on mental wellbeing,” he explained in the video.
Obijiaku also explained the utility of a number of key SketchUp visualisation tools, which entrants are required to use in their designs.
The overall winner of the competition will receive a prize of $5,000 US dollars, as well as a one-year subscription to SketchUp Studio.
Entries for the SketchUp Design Sprint Challenge 2025 open today and end on June 11. Winners will be announced in a video created by Obijiaku and Dezeen. Enter the competition here.
