Mattheus Cunha insisted he remains happy at Wolves but hinted he eventually wants to take ‘the next step’ in his career amid transfer links with a host of Premier League clubs.

Cunha has been Wolves’ standout player so far this season, with his goals a large part of the reason why Vítor Pereira’s side remain just outside of the relegation zone.

The Brazillian international has notched up 13 goals and four assists in 25 league games this campaign, including goals in his last three games.

Such sparkling form throughout the campaign has unsurprisingly seen Cunha linked with a host of top clubs, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all linked with a move for the in-form striker.

Wolves were able to hold on to Cunha in the January window and even convcined the 25-year-old to sign a new deal to extend his stay at Molineux.

However, that new deal reportedly contains a £62million release clause which several top clubs may consider activating in the summer.

Adressing what was a month filled with speculation, Cunha insisted he had no desires to leave Wolves midway through the season.

However, the forward did appear to suggest that he will eventually want to take the next step in his career and play for ‘something more’.

‘I never think about leaving, honestly, Cunha told the BBC. ‘I know I have a lot of things to do already and I always said that this was the club that gave me the chance to come back.

‘I had good days in Atletico, but after there was a lot of doubt inside of me. I had a lot of things to prove and they opened the door for me.

‘I always felt I wanted to give back everything so to leave in this type of situation is hard.’

Cunha continued: ‘It would not be appropriate to say I don’t want to play for something more.

‘It’s like every single job in the world, everyone wants to take the next step but I hope I let the hands of god control my life.

‘Right now I am so happy to be here. I hope to continue doing good things.’

Arsenal are likely to be one of the frontrunners for Cunha’s signature in the summer having made no bones about their desire to upgrade their forward line in the coming windows.

Chelsea may also seek to bolster their attacking line and provide adequate competition for Nicolas Jackson, while Unired have reportedly placed Cunha on a shortlist of potential targets to upgrade upon Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
