Mark Wahlberg’s Secret Weapon for Getting Ripped Fast

It’s safe to say Mark Wahlberg has had one of the most shredded physiques in Hollywood for decades. Women are obsessed, men want to look like him, and just about everyone’s curious how he’s stayed in top shape for over 20 years. Sure, he’s known for having a strict diet and a serious love of working out—but in recent years, he’s credited one thing above all the others for staying fit: intermittent fasting.

In a recent Instagram video, Wahlberg revealed he had just wrapped filming for his latest movie—and he’s more than ready to get back to his signature shredded shape.

"Felt like shit, inflammation, hacking shit up every day, eating breads and pastas and yogurts and all the shit I'm not supposed to be eating," he said. "But now, we're finished and it's operation get ripped."

In addition to his famously disciplined workout routine, Wahlberg also swears by fasting. To get back into fighting shape after packing on weight for a role, he’s sticking to a six-hour eating window—plus regular cold plunges and sauna sessions to boost recovery and burn fat.

There’s no doubt Wahlberg’s intense workouts and other tools have played a role in keeping him in peak shape all these years. But according to him, the real game-changer has been fasting. “Just the fasting alone got me down 14 pounds already,” he said. It’s a simple switch, but one that’s clearly made a serious impact.

In a second video posted the same day, Wahlberg takes fans through his workout routine—and spoiler alert: it’s heavy on the core. Not exactly shocking, considering he’s maintained a razor-sharp six-pack for the better part of two decades. From hanging leg raises to ab wheels, it’s clear he prioritizes core strength to stay shredded.

For his back and biceps, Wahlberg mixes classics with trendier moves like cable rows, seated cable rows, TRX rows, lat pulldowns, cable curls, and straight-arm cable pulldowns. He also throws in a few different variations of calf raises to build strength and definition from the ground up.
