The 27-year-old was allowed to join Aston Villa on loan in the January transfer window after being frozen out of United’s first-team squad by Amorim. The United manager had made it clear that he was unhappy with Rashford’s effort levels in training before the player was allowed to move to Villa. During his time under Unai Emery at Villa, Rashford has found form with four goals and five assists in 17 appearances. As part of their loan agreement with United, Villa have the option to buy Rashford for a £40 million fee in the summer transfer window. If he’s happy, we are happy. ‘Then, of course, it depends on the circumstances and what happens in the next weeks, and [what we have] in the next year as well.’ United, meanwhile, are already in the market to sign a replacement for Rashford and have intensified their efforts to secure a quick deal for Wolves’ talisman Matheus Cunha.
