Head coach Craig Berube told reporters at Friday’s practice that Oliver Ekman-Larsson will miss Toronto’s game against the Montreal Canadiens and that his status is day-to-day.
Ekman-Larsson, 33, has played in all but one game for the Maple Leafs this season, recording 29 points (four goals and 25 assists) across 77 appearances.
Berube also announced that defenceman Jake McCabe will remain unavailable this weekend, but he expects the 31-year-old to return before the end of the regular season.
Out of the lineup since April 2, McCabe has 23 points (two goals and 21 assists) in 66 games this season.
Toronto (48-26-4) sits first in the Atlantic Division with 100 points.
