Manchester United host Manchester City in the latest edition of the Manchester derby this afternoon.

United’s last-gasp win over City at the Etihad in December will have Pep Guardiola’s side gunning for revenge this afternoon.

But they will have to do it without Erling Haaland with the Norway international facing up to seven weeks on the sidelines having been sent to a specialist to discover the full extent of the injury.

Injury experts have told Metro Haaland’s season could even be over.

Omar Marmoush will deputise in his place again, scoring with his first touch after replacing Haaland at Bournemouth and hitting the target again against Leicester City on Wednesday night.

Elsewhere, City remain without Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji at the back with John Stones’ return date still unknown after he was forced off in the defeat to Real Madrid in February.

Kevin de Bruyne is expected to feature in what will be his final Manchester derby having confirmed his decision to leave City at the end of the season.

United meanwhile are coming off yet another defeat – their 13th in the Premier League this season – after Anthony Elanga came back to haunt them at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Leny Yoro returned to the starting XI that evening with Harry Maguire also emerging from the bench late on as a makeshift centre forward.

The England international is expected to return to his regular role at the back for the visit of Pep Guardiola’s side.

Matthijs de Ligt picked up a knock that evening but United will hope he will be fit to play today.

After making his latest injury comeback off the bench against Forest, coming within inches of scoring moments after, Mason Mount will hope to force his way into Ruben Amorim’s plans.

How United could line up this weekend…

The United boss has been effusive in his praise for the former Chelsea star since arriving in Manchester last November and will be desperate to get him into his starting XI.

That would also allow the manager to drop Bruno Fernandes into the deeper midfield role he has excelled in in recent weeks.

Alejandro Garnacho could make way for Mount after his disappointing performance at the City Ground.

How City could line up this weekend…

It was Amad Diallo who secured a sensational victory for United at the Etihad in December. While the Ivorian has teased the possibility of a return to action sooner than expected, Sunday’s game will surely come too soon.

Kobbie Mainoo meanwhile was not deemed fit enough to feature against Forest but will hope to make the squad this weekend.

Ayden Heaven is recovering from the ankle injury he suffered against Leicester City before the international break and is expected to play again this season, while Luke Shaw is back training.
