Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt were absent from Manchester United training just a week away from the Europa League final against Tottenham.

Ruben Amorim’s side take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their penultimate game of the Premier League season on Friday night.

Focus will then shift to next Wednesday’s final in Bilbao where United and Tottenham will look to salvage silverware after woeful domestic campaigns.

Both sides are beset by injury problems ahead of that trip to the Basque country with Amorim dealing with a number of concerns in defence.

Yoro limped out of Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham United, looking distraught as he left the pitch with a foot injury with Amorim left exasperated on the touchline.

While the United boss later suggested it could be a ‘small issue’, the 19-year-old was not present as United trained at Carrington on Wednesday.

Also absent was de Ligt. The Netherlands international missed six games with a foot injury before making his return off the bench in the away win over Athletic Bilbao at the start of May.

He returned to the starting XI against Brentford three days later but lasted just 35 minutes after picking up a knee problem.

While Amorim may have opted to rest two likely starters for the final when his side face Chelsea on Friday, their absence from training will be a major concern.

Ayden Heaven was another not spotted training with the group.

The former Arsenal star shone in a run of games before the March international break but was stretchered off in the victory over Leicester City.

While the injury was not as bas as first feared, Heaven suffered a setback in mid-April.

While he was on the training pitch doing individual work ahead of last week’s second leg against Athletic Bilbao, he was not pictured among the group today.

Lisandro Martinez meanwhile is out for the rest of the season with Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Noussair Mazraoui and Victor Lindelof the manager’s other senior options at the back.

In better news, Diogo Dalot was back on the grass, working on an individual programme.

The Portugal international, a mainstay in United’s starting XI this season, has missed the last five games with a calf injury.

Jonny Evans and Toby Collyer were also back in action.
