Los Angeles Lakers’ misery leaves Boston Celtics hero close to tears of laughter with television outburst
The Los Angeles Lakers are on a three-game losing streak. And one man in particular has taken extra delight in the purple and gold’s current skid. Paul Pierce has transitioned from the life of a star NBA player to a life in the mediaGetty And that is Boston Celtics legend, Paul Pierce. On FS1’s hit show Speak, host Joy Taylor asked Pierce if he felt bad for the Lakers. “Feel bad for the Lakers?” Pierce sarcastically repeated the question. He then erupted into a near 15-second outburst of laughter. “It was all good just a week ago,” he called out laughing. Pierce openly mocked the Lakers franchise and had a big smile on his face the whole time while doing so. Pierce played for the rival Celtics for 15 seasons, and is widely regarded as one of the best players in franchise history – and he doesn’t have much time for the recent Lakers hype. He led the Celtics to the NBA championship in 2008 over Kobe Bryant and the Lakers, taking home Finals MVP in the process. However, Bryant hadhis revenge two seasons later, when he and the Lakers took down Pierce and the Celtics in the 2010 Finals. Pierce has since been enjoying retirement and has taken to the media space where he currently stars on the FS1 afternoon program. The Lakers were vaulting up the Western Conference standings following the arrival of Luka Doncic at the trade deadline, reaching the two seed on the back of an eight-game win streak. However, LeBron James suffered a groin injury on Saturday night, in a loss to Pierce’s Celtics, and the Lakers have now lost three in a row. James is out for the foreseeable future and Doncic has been battling an ankle sprain (and season-long calf injury) that has now ruled him out of Friday night’s massive showdown against the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers are currently the fourth seed and one game back from the Nuggets who could take second by the end of Friday night’s slate. Pierce was right, as it was all good just a week ago for the purple and gold. Now it’s on head coach JJ Redick and Austin Reaves to keep the team from taking on anymore water at the moment. And that starts in Denver. Meanwhile, Pierce’s Celtics are second in the Eastern Conference, trailing only the Cleveland Cavaliers. Life is good for Pierce. As for the Lakers, it’s all eyes on James and Doncic and whether they can return sooner rather than later.
