Arne Slot’s side only needed a point against Tottenham on Sunday to clinch a 20th league title but won the league in style with a 5-1 victory over Spurs. Liverpool’s title triumph has felt inevitable for weeks, with the Reds building a commanding lead over an Arsenal side that look set to finish second for a third season in a row. The Reds were not thought of as serious title contenders at the start of the season, with some pundits even raising doubts over how they would fare following the departure of legendary manager Jurgen Klopp. Klopp brought Premier League and Champions League trophies back to Anfield and was adored by Liverpool fans during his nine-year spell at the club. That may have derailed other club’s season but Liverpool have marched towards the Premier League title despite the uncertainty over the future of three superstars. It was Manchester City or Arsenal. So to do what they’ve done is very special. One of the greatest personalities and characters we’ve seen in the Premier League, a Liverpool icon and legend. ‘Going into that dressing room and having to establish control and authority, but knowing he probably could never do it the same way as Jurgen Klopp. ‘No one can be the same personality and character as he was.
