The Tampa Bay Lightning will suit up without a key trade-deadline addition in their first-round series against the Florida Panthers.
Oliver Bjorkstrand will not play due to a lower-body injury, head coach Jon Cooper told reporters on Saturday.
Bjorkstrand was acquired by Tampa Bay from the Seattle Kraken on March 6, and totalled five goals and nine points in 18 games with his new team.
He was injured during a loss to the Detroit Red Wings earlier in April and ruled out week-to-week soon after.
In 79 total games, the one-time all-star netted 21 goals and 46 points. It’s the fifth straight season and seventh in his career that he has reached the 20-goal plateau.
The Lighting begin their series against the Panthers on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT with live coverage available on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
