Laufey taps The National’s Aaron Dessner for new LP, shares “Tough Luck”

Laufey has announced a new album, A Matter of Time, due out on August 22 via Vingolf Recordings/AWAL. She worked with a pair of co-producers, regular collaborator Spencer Stewart, and new collaborator Aaron Dessner of The National. “Every new album for me is a blank book of stories to write,” she says, adding, “I’m constantly thinking about classical and jazz, how to properly preserve them and pay homage. For this album, I just wanted to let my heart wander.” See the cover art below. She’s given us a preview of the album with “Tough Luck,” which she says is “a fiery song about love gone wrong. I wanted to reveal an angrier side of myself—a side that this unfortunate relationship brought out in me.” Hear it below. Laufey has some shows lined up this spring and summer.
