Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse will not take part in Thursday’s second and final day of GTP running at the IMSA-sanctioned test at Sebring International Raceway after discovering a ‘minor issue’ with its Lamborghini SC63 in the first day of testing.
The No. 63 Lamborghini, which was a last-minute addition to the official test, featured Romain Grosjean and Andrea Caldarelli and took part in the first two sessions on Wednesday, posting the tenth quickest time in the GTP class.
However, an undisclosed issue was detected, which has curtailed running for the Riley-operated factory squad.
“We are caught off-guard a premature issue,” a statement from Lamborghini supplied to Sportscar365 read. “We therefore prefer to analyze the issue at our workshop and end the testing program early.
“We have been analyzing all the precious data collected from the first test day and are working for robust solution in time for Sebring race.”
It marks the second setback for the team in a month after a cooling-related issue led to an opening hour retirement in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Lamborghini has vowed to roll out updates to the Ligier-chassied LMDh car over the course of the season, although an exact timeline for Evo jokers have not yet been disclosed.
