Koji, Centineo In Talks For “Street Fighter”?

“Warrior” actor Andrew Koji and “The Recruit” star Noah Centineo are rumored to be in talks to play the new live-action Ryu and Ken respectively in the upcoming “Street Fighter” film at Sony Pictures according to Nexus Point News.

“Talk to Me” directors Danny and Michael Philippou dropped out of the new “Street Fighter” in February while filmmaker Kitao Sakurai (“Twisted Metal,” “The Eric Andre Show”) has taken over. No word on filming dates or other cast as yet

Capcom is reportedly heavily involved in the new take on a franchise which began life as a 1987 arcade game but took off in 1991 with the release of “Street Fighter II” becoming a pop culture event.

Multiple sequels followed, and the infamous film adaptation in 1994 with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, Kylie Minogue and Ming-Na Wen. A second and lower-budgeted film adaptation in 2009 followed.

In the lore, Ryu is a dedicated Ansatsuken karate fighter travelling the world for worthy opponents. Ken is his cocky best friend and sometimes rival with an aggressive fighting style.

Koji is a British actor who first had guest roles in shows like “American Gods” and “Peaky Blinders” before landing the lead role in Cinemax’s “Warrior” for three seasons. He’s appeared in films like “Snake Eyes,” “Bullet Train,” and “Boy Kills World”. He most recently appeared in “Black Doves” and “Gangs of London” along with the game “Black Myth: Wukong”.

Centineo broke through with Freeform’s “The Fosters ” and Netflix’s “To All the Boys” franchise before appearing in films like “Charlie’s Angels,” “Black Adam,” “Dream Scenario” and the just released “Warfare”. His return to Netflix with “The Recruit” was recently cancelled after two seasons.
