Kneecap have started teasing a new single called ‘The Recap’. Find out more below.
The Irish hip-hop trio took to social media today (May 16) to reveal they have new material on the way. Posting on Instagram, they shared a photo that said: ‘The Recap’, and wrote in the caption that it was an upcoming single.
“Well well a chairde Gael! Back to what it’s all about,” they said. “We’ve a brand new tune out next week that’s [fire]. We’re dropping it before anywhere else on our WhatsApp channel…yis don’t wanna miss this one…”
The post also told fans to visit the link in their bio to join the WhatsApp mailing list, where the song will be shared before it arrives on streaming platforms.
The new update also comes weeks after the group made a separate update on socials hinting at new music.
At the start of the month, they posted a photo on X/Twitter alongside the caption: “New track coming soon….stay tuned…lock down your aerial.” No further details about the song were shared, although the last part of the caption left some fans on X convinced that the new material may include a collaboration with Mike Skinner of The Streets.
This is because “lock down your aerial” is a lyric featured in The Streets’ 2002 song ‘Has It Come To This?’. As well as that, both Kneecap and Skinner were set to take to the stage at the Eden Sessions on July 4, although this date was later cancelled due to controversy surrounding Kneecap.
It has not been confirmed whether or not Mike Skinner feature on the forthcoming single. More details are set to be announced shortly, and you can visit here to be the first to hear the song when it drops.
