Kendrick Lamar headlined the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, and as you’d probably expect, it was a sight to behold. Following an intro from Samuel L. Jackson as Uncle Sam, Kendrick began the show sitting on top a Buick GNX, opening with “Bodies,” a song that was teased ahead of GNX but not released. Then he went into “Squabble Up,” flanked by dancers dressed in red, white, and blue, with amazing choreography that continued throughout the remainder of his performance.

Uncle Samuel L. Jackson continued to interject, calling the start of Kendrick’s performance “too ghetto,” and then he went into “Humble,” “DNA,” part of his Drake diss track “Euphoria,” “Man at the Garden,” and “Peekaboo.”

“I wanna perform they favorite song, but you know they love to sue,” he said, while teasing “Not Like Us.” “Ah maybe I’ll think about it,” he continued. “Know what? I’ll slow it down.” Then he brought out SZA for a stunning rendition of their GNX hit “Luther,” followed by their 2018 Black Panther hit “All The Stars.”

“That’s what America wants!”, Samuel L. Jackson said in response. “Nice and calm, you’re almost there. Don’t mess this up.”

Then “Not Like Us” was teased again. “Are you really bout to do it?” And yes, he really did it, performing his five-time Grammy-winning, chart-topping Drake diss track “Not Like Us,” while crip walking, including several of his knockout punchlines that directly address Drake. He took the mic away from his mouth during the word “pedophile,” but at the end of the verse, he had the whole stadium yelling “A MINORRRRRRR.” He also had Drake’s ex and fellow Compton native Serena Williams also crip walking – a nod to the 2012 Olympics.

After “Not Like Us,” the song’s producer Mustard came out to the “MUSTARDDDDDD” part of “TV Off.” And then the performance ended with the “turn this TV off” lyric, the lights going out, and “GAME OVER” being projected on the screen.
