Tadas Karlinskas set the fastest overall Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America practice lap time of the day at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca after a pair of red-flag-impacted sessions.
The Kaizen Autosport driver leaped to the top of the Practice 2 times, recording a 1:24.333 in his Pro-Am points-leading Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 after switching teams with co-driver Darius Trinka heading into the second round of the championship this weekend.
Following a lengthy red flag interruption, Karlinkas bested Will Bamber’s then-session leading time, with his benchmark time also surpassing Danny Formal’s best effort from Practice 1 to claim the quickest overall practice lap of the day.
Formal’s best time from the morning session was good enough for second overall and the best Pro class lap time, just 0.056 seconds off of the Kaizen driver’s pace. Bamber finished third fastest on the day aboard his No. 29 TR3 Racing Lamborghini.
Wayne Taylor Racing’s Nick Persing was fourth fastest overall, with his solo-driven effort putting two WTR entries inside the top five on the day.
Al Morey rounded out the top five best combined times for Forty7 Motorsports, also setting his best lap in the shortened afternoon session.
Sebastian Carazo led the way in Am for Precision Performance Motorsports with his best lap from Practice 2.
Nick Groat rebounded from a momentary issue in first practice, which saw him stop and start in his No. 57 Forty7 Motorsports Lamborghini before setting the fastest LB Cup class time of the day in Practice 2.
Christopher Tasca also stopped on track before continuing in first practice, with Wyatt Foster pulling his then Pro-Am pace-setting No. 44 Kaizen Lamborghini off the circuit in Sector One.
An on-track incident between Scott Huffaker and Clay Wilson came under investigation just before a red flag came out when AJ Muss went off track at Turn 4 in the final three minutes of the morning session.
David Hodge also appeared to stop in the first section in the No. 26 Alliance Racing entry at the tail end of Practice 1.
Second practice was interrupted by a pair of red flags, including a 22-minute stoppage after Alliance Racing’s David Hodge went off course at Turn 5.
Cameron Lawrence brought out the session’s second red and an early end to Practice 2 after going off track at Turn 4 following a reported incident with the No. 28 Alliance Racing machine of Luke Berkeley.
The series will set the grid for this weekend’s races with a pair of Saturday morning qualifying sessions beginning at 8 a.m. PST.
