Not every number has takers in the JPJ eBid auction – that’s how the rest of us get random ‘running numbers’ if we don’t pay for our pick. This applies to special or ‘rare’ plates as well, and the road transport department is now offering the leftover numbers collectively in a clearance sale of sorts.
On offer to bargain hunters are WP Putrajaya ‘F’ plates such as FB, FC, FD and FE, as well as the Malaysia series. Of the F plates, FG and FFF have already undergone clearance, and it now seems like JPJ wants to clean its slate. ‘Malaysia’ is also pretty old now – it was launched in 2018.
Usually, remainder number plates can be browsed and bought at JPJ’s Putrajaya HQ or at state JPJ offices, but for this collective round, things are being done on JPJ’s MySikap portal.
After you log in, head to the ‘kenderaan’ section and look for ‘tempahan nombor pendaftaran’. Then, select ‘nombor pendaftaran istimewa’ from the drop down menu and choose your series/number. You can pay via credit card or FPX and press ‘cetak’ for your receipt. Click on the graphics above for a clearer picture. The online sale starts tomorrow, April 8, and needless to say, it’s first come, first served.
No mention of price, but previous clearance sales had ‘popular’ numbers at RM510 each inclusive of a service fee, or RM310 each for regular numbers.
By the way, Putrajaya’s F plates are perfect for Honda Civics of various generations, stretching back to the FD that was launched by Honda Malaysia in 2006. That revolutionary generation was followed by the FB in 2012 and the FC in 2016. Today’s car is the FE, which facelift was launched in January.
