Jetour eVT5 debuts in Malaysia – it’s a Chery Tiggo Cross EV, 163 PS/280 Nm, 53.6 kWh LFP, 356 km NEDC

What’s this? Tucked away in a corner at Jetour’s Malaysia Autoshow 2025 stand is the Jetour eVT5, in right-hand drive form, no less.

The car was actually sighted in Malaysia last year as the Kaiyi X3 Pro EV, Kaiyi being yet another brand under the Chery umbrella (you can see the Kaiyi logo on the door speakers). Now we know it’s coming to Malaysia as a Jetour.

Think of it as an EV version of the Chery Tiggo Cross. Length, width, height, wheelbase and ground clearance are respectively 4,443 mm, 1,831 mm, 1,646 mm, 2,632 mm and 183 mm. It’s a whole 125 mm longer than the Tiggo Cross, but all other dimensions are pretty much similar.

Its 53.6 kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery yields a 356 km NEDC range, and 30-80% charging (flap is in the nose) takes as fast as 30 minutes. Up front there are MacPherson struts and a 163 PS/280 Nm motor; out back there are multi-links. Shrouding front ventilated discs and rear solid discs are 18-inch alloys covered in 215/55 Giti Comfort 520 rubber.

The rather prosaic-looking interior contains, on the display unit, leather upholstery, a 10.25-inch LCD touch-screen, one rear air vent, a panoramic sunroof, a 360 camera, auto brake hold, conventional cruise control, wireless phone charging, six airbags and a row of physical climate control toggles.

Jetour Malaysia did say after launching the VT9 that this was among the models being considered for Malaysia, so it’s a question of when. For now, you like what you see?
