He’d instantly make them better.” Comparing him to Tottenham Hotspur‘s Dominic Solanke – who has scored seven league goals this season – Deeney said Delap was ‘nastier’. “You need to have a nasty streak as a striker. Everyone looks at Ian Wright, Thierry Henry, Wayne Rooney – these nice guys when they’re talking about football,” Deeney said. “Watch them play. There’s a streak in there because they want to score. “They want to win, any striker that’s on there has to have this element of nastiness to get it done.” Delap will be available this summer due to a relegation release clause.
