Four-time FIA World Endurance Champion Brendon Hartley will make his second appearance of the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season at next week’s Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, jumping into Wayne Taylor Racing’s No. 40 Cadillac V-Series.R in place of Alex Lynn.
Lynn, who won Sebring in 2017 and 2022, was announced as the designated Michelin Endurance Cup driver for the No.40 Cadillac this year alongside full-season drivers Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz. After missing Daytona due to illness, Lynn also missed the Sebring Sanctioned Test in February, with Deletraz’s accident during the race leaving WTR with just one car that would be shared amongst its four full-time drivers – including Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque.
“As Alex Lynn did not compete in the Rolex 24 At Daytona due to illness and also did not have the opportunity to test at Sebring International Raceway due to availability of a Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R, GM, the team and the two-time Sebring winner have agreed it best to have Alex miss Sebring and focus on the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season with Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA,” said a spokesperson from Wayne Taylor Racing.
Lynn’s next scheduled appearance for WTR is the season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
His replacement, Hartley, finished fifth at Daytona in the No.10 WTR Cadillac, and opened his WEC campaign for Toyota Gazoo Racing with a fifth-place finish in Qatar. Hartley finished third overall at Sebring in 2019 (for Action Express Racing), and fifth last year in the No.10 WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06.
The official entry list for the 12 Hours of Sebring is expected to be published later this week.
